From the beginning of the human person have felt the urge to protect what they own. They started by closing the entrance to the cave with the stone, then gold and jewels they hid in the ground. Then they found the key. It was first made of wood and rope. They serve the purpose very well, although they are not very well designed. There is plenty of historical evidence that authorize the use of key long before we could imagine. Even in the Bible (Old Testament, the Book of Judges) we often mention the lock and key.

Type

In modern society we have the key and the key to everything: homes, offices, cars, bicycles. We even have more than one lock to the same building; lock and keys become a part of our daily routine that we do not take them into consideration (or perhaps we do so only when the key ring was too heavy to put in our pockets). But we give a lot of thought when we must choose the type of key or key type. Basically we are talking about a mechanical key (based on the activation of mechanical keys) electro-mechanical lock (can be either mechanical or electrical activated, but normally the key is replaced by the number key that must be pressed) and electric lock (activated by a key card that has a specific code, programmed to be read by the card reader, which is controlled by central or local processor automatically).

How to pick locks?

This is not as complicated as we think, but also not as easy as it appears in many movies. Some people say that it requires art and science. It does not cost much in time and money, but we can spend some big stress. The same procedure is recommended when moving into a new house / apartment. The better are the key, the harder it will become a thief to break in!
